Truth Rightly Divided

Are We To Judge?

We are told in Matt 7:1 “Judge not”, and in Rom 14:10 “But why dost thou judge thy brother?”
and in Rom 14:13 “Let us not therefore judge one another any more”

But scripture mentions various times when judgment is not only allowed, but required and even commanded!
1 Cor 5-7 – moral sin
Gal 5:9-10 – Doctrinal error
1 Tim 3 – Hold leaders to a standard
Matthew 18:15-18 – Our brothers actions (not motives)
Matthew 7:15-20 – false prophets; judgment of fruit
Acts 20:29-31 – wolves, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples
Romans 12:3 – Think too highly of self
1 Corinthians 4:6-14 – Think too highly of others
Romans 16:17 – them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine
2 Thessalonians 3:6 – walk disorderly
Titus 3:10 – gathering some adherents to himself and maintaining some sectarian line of truth and, in so doing, causes strife, faction and division in the assembly.
1 Timothy 5:20 – public sin of an assembly member to be rebuked before all
2 Timothy 4:2 – reprove, rebuke, exhort
1 Thessalonians 5:14 – warn them that are unruly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
1 Timothy 1:20 – blasphemers
