1 Thess 2:1 – The perceived, productive, effective visit
1 Thess 2:2 – The persecuted, but persistent messengers
1 Thess 2:3 – No inaccuracy, impurity, deceit in the message
1 Thess 2:4 – God-approved messengers speak God-pleasing message
1 Thess 2:5 – God-verified absence of flattery or covetousness in the message
1 Thess 2:6 – Not self-seeking self-asserting messengers
1 Thess 2:7 – Gentle, nurse-like messengers
1 Thess 2:8 – The loving, self-sacrificing, gospel preaching messengers
1 Thess 2:9 – The self-supporting, gospel preaching messengers
1 Thess 2:10 – pure from evil conduct, and observant of God’s will
– in accordance with what is right
– blameless
1 Thess 2:11 – exhort – “to call to one’s side,” hence, “to call to one’s aid.” Vine, W. E.

When we think of gentleness we can remember:

2 Sam 18:5 David asking that Absalom be treated gently

A father’s desire for his child

2 Sam 22:36 David talks about the Lord and says thy gentleness hath made me great Ps 18:35

A servant’s thankfulness for God’s gentleness

Isaiah 40:11 but he shall gather the lambs with his arms and carry them in his bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young

A shepherd’s care of the flock

2 Corinthians 10:1 I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ who in presence base among you but being absent and bold towards you

Paul’s witness of the gentleness of Christ

Galatians 5:22 but the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace longsuffering gentleness goodness faith

The Spirit’s fruit being manifest in believers

1 Thessalonians 2:7 call and his companions were gentle among the Thessalonians

The evangelist’s/missionary’s treatment of their audience

2 Timothy 2:24 the servant of the Lord must not strive but be gentle

The teacher’s treatment of their audience

 Titus 3:2  to speak evil of no man to be no brawlers but gentle showing all meekness unto men

The evangelist’s/missionary’s treatment of their audience

James 3:17 but the wisdom that is from above is first pure then peaceable gentle and easily easy to be entreated full of mercy and good fruits without partiality and without hypocrisy

Wisdom from above is gentle

1 Peter 2:18 servants be subject to your masters with all fear not only to the good and gentle but to the forward.

Servants subject even if gentleness is missing in their masters

They won’t care how much you know until they know how much you care
