The identification of Junia in Rom 16.7 has been a familiar problem in biblical interpretation. Most studies, however, are preoccupied with the gender of the name, assuming that Junia’s apostolic status is not in doubt. This article addresses the latter issue. The collocation of \u03b5\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03b7\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2<\/em><\/strong> with its adjuncts shows that, as a rule, \u03b5\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03b7\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2<\/strong><\/em> with a genitive personal adjunct indicates an inclusive comparison (\u2018outstanding among<\/strong>\u2019), while \u03b5\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03b7\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2<\/strong><\/em> with (\u03b5\u03bd<\/strong> <\/em>plus) the personal dative indicates an elative notion without the implication of inclusion (\u2018well known to<\/strong>\u2019).
