This section goes on to outline the simplicity of the gospel message in the current age \u2013 available to both Jew and Gentile \u2013 and completely centred on the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Outline\"><\/span><strong>Outline<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 10:5-13 \u2013 Contrast between \u201crighteousness which is of the law\u201d and \u201crighteousness of faith\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Righteousness which is of the law requires complete obedience and compliance (which is impossible) whereas righteousness of faith relies on a work which Christ has completely done. (Rom 10:5-7)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salvation is near \u2013 it is accessible \u2013 it is simple \u2013 and it is entirely focused on the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom 10:8-10)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There\u2019s no distinction between Jew and Gentile when it comes to salvation \u2013 every one who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Rom 10:11-13)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 10:14-17 \u2013 The importance of gospel preaching<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paul goes through a logical progression in terms of salvation \u2013 he has just said that those who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved \u2013 How will they call? They must believe &#8211; How will they believe? They must hear. \u2013 How will they hear? Someone must preach. \u2013 How will someone preach? They must be sent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The preaching of the gospel is God\u2019s basic way of reaching and saving souls in this dispensation \u2013 central to his purpose. Seen in the \u201cgreat commission\u201d and evidenced in history over the past centuries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 10:18-21 \u2013 Israel\u2019s present rejection and the Inclusion of Gentiles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No excuse for Israel \u2013 they heard the truth but did not accept it (Rom 10:18)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Their own scriptures predicted that God would \u201cprovoke Israel to jealousy\u201d by reaching out to the Gentiles (Rom 10:19-20)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>God\u2019s enduring love for, and interest in, Israel \u2013 and their continued disobedience <br>(Rom 10:21)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Key_PointsQuestions_for_Discussion\"><\/span><strong>Key Points\/Questions for Discussion<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> Romans 10:9 is a \u201cgolden gospel verse\u201d \u2013 it is noteworthy that it emphasizes two vital truths \u2013 \u201cJesus is Lord\u201d and \u201cGod has raised him from the dead\u201d. What is the significance of these two truths in terms of their centrality to the gospel message?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Both verses 10 and 13 speak of <strong><em>being<\/em><\/strong> saved (\u201cyou will be saved\u201d (Rom 10:10) and \u201cshall be saved\u201d (Rom 10:13). Is it possible for Christians to focus to much on <strong><em>getting<\/em><\/strong> saved (i.e. how it happened) and not enough on the reality of <strong><em>being<\/em><\/strong> saved? Or to focus on <strong><em>feeling<\/em><\/strong> saved instead of <strong><em>being<\/em><\/strong> saved? What are some of the dangers involved in these common mistakes?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Is gospel preaching important? How should the \u201cchain of logic\u201d in Rom 10:14-17 motivate us to missionary zeal and a gospel outreach focus? Are there other scriptural passages or examples that can help us understand God\u2019s basic plan and purpose for gospel proclamation in the present age?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> What does the last verse tell us about the character of God, despite the disobedience and obstinacy of those who will not come?
