{"id":11833,"date":"2026-05-23T13:08:57","date_gmt":"2026-05-23T18:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/truthrightlydivided.ca\/?page_id=11833"},"modified":"2026-05-23T14:19:33","modified_gmt":"2026-05-23T19:19:33","slug":"romans-51-11","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/truthrightlydivided.ca\/wp2\/romans-51-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Romans 5:1-11"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NGH BIBLE STUDY \u2013 ROMANS \u2013 OUTLINE #10<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Peace of Justification by Faith (Romans 5:1-11)<\/strong><br>Rom 5:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">William McDonald in his \u201cBeliever\u2019s Bible Commentary\u201d calls this 11 verse section \u201cThe Practical Benefits of the Gospel\u201d \u2013 and lists seven major blessings the believer enjoys because of what God has done in salvation: <br>(1) peace with God (Rom 5:1), <br>(2) access into an indescribable position of favour with God (Rom 5:2), <br>(3) rejoicing in hope of the glory of God (Rom 5:2), <br>(4) the ability to glory in tribulations (Rom 5:3), <br>(5) we are eternally secure in Christ (five \u201cmuch mores\u201d in Rom 5:9,10,15,17,20), <br>(6) we rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom 5:11), <br>(7) we have received reconciliation (Rom 5:11). <br>Major themes in these 11 verses include: Justification by Faith, Peace with God, Christian Hope, Purpose in Suffering, God\u2019s Love Displayed at the Cross, Reconciliation &amp; Assurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Outline<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 5:1-2 \u2013 Peace and Access through Justification<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Peace with God<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Standing in Grace and Joy in Hope of Glory<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 5:3-4,5 \u2013 Finding Purpose in Tribulations or Suffering<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Suffering produces endurance (or perseverance) which produces character (ESV\/NKJV) which produces Hope<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 5:6-7,8 \u2013 The Ultimate Demonstration of God\u2019s Love<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Humanity\u2019s Plight \u2013 (1) without strength (or weak), (2) ungodly, (3) sinners (and \u201cenemies\u201d in Rom 5:10)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>God\u2019s extraordinary love is seen in the cross \u2013 human love might extend all the way to death for a good person \u2013 but God loved us when we were weak, ungodly, sinful enemies!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 5:9-10,11 \u2013 Saved from Wrath and Reconciled<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What God has done is the great assurance we have of what he will now do \u2013 he reconciled us when we were enemies by the death of his Son \u2013 we can be absolutely confident that he will keep us now through His life!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Note that the believer (Rom 5:11) rejoices \u201cin God\u201d \u2013 not just in what God has given. The greatest blessing of eternal life is to know God (John 17:3) and the greatest occupation for a human being is to rejoice in God and bring him glory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key Points\/Questions for Discussion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How is \u201cpeace with God\u201d to be understood when compared to the \u201cpeace of God\u201d (Phil 4:7) and the third aspect of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22 \u2013 \u201clove, joy, PEACE\u201d, . . .?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is Christian \u201chope\u201d (Rom 5:2, 4, 5)? How is it different than the common usage of the word \u201chope\u201d in our everyday vocabulary?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why does God not protect his own from passing through trials and suffering?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What do the different descriptors used teach us about our natural condition when God loved us and Christ died for us \u2013 without strength? Ungodly? Sinners? Enemies?
