To this point, Paul has been methodically progressing to the universal condemnation of man \u2013 which is summarized in Rom 3:23 \u201call have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God\u201d. Paul will now methodically explain the gospel \u2013 God\u2019s righteousness will now be available by grace through faith \u201cunto all and upon all those who believe\u201d (Rom 3:22).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Outline<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 3:21,22-23 \u2013 Righteousness Revealed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Comes from God \u2013 not through human effort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prophesied in the old testament \u2013 not a \u201csurprise\u201d new concept<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It\u2019s available to <strong>all <\/strong>\u2013 because <strong>all <\/strong>have sinned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 3:24,25,26 \u2013 A Foundational Statement of Salvation (what God has done)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Justification by grace<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Redemption that is in Christ Jesus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Propitiation by his blood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Through faith<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>God is just \u2013 and the justifier of him who has faith in Jesus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 3:27,28-29,30-31<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The absolute contrast between works and faith (law of works vs law of faith)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Universal in its application to mankind \u2013 One God \u2013 One Basis for Salvation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The gospel doesn\u2019t contradict the law \u2013 it establishes the law<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key Points\/Questions for Discussion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is there a distinction between the terms \u201cthe righteousness of Christ\u201d and \u201cthe righteousness of God\u201d?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide some examples of where \u201cthe righteousness of God apart from the law\u201d is \u201cwitnessed by the Law and the Prophets\u201d (Rom 3:21). Where do we see foreshadowings of this truth in the Old Testament?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How does \u201cfalling short of the glory of God\u201d (Rom 3:23) expand our understanding of sin beyond simply \u201ctransgressing the law\u201d?
