According to truth (Romans 2:2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.8\">2. According to accumulated guilt stored up(Romans 2:5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.8\">3. According to works (Romans 2:6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.8\">4. According to what God calls good works (Romans 2:7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. According to equality, no respect of persons (Romans 2:11).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.8\">6. According to doing God&#8217;s will, not just knowing it (Romans 2:13).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.8\">7. According to my gospel (Romans 2:16).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.8\">8. According to reality, not religious profession (Romans 2:17\u201329).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ACCORDING TO TRUTH,\u2014NOT HUMAN IMAGININGS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Gods_motive\"><\/span>God&#8217;s motive:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rom 2:4 (NLT) Don\u2019t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can\u2019t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Romans_2_1-16\"><\/span>Romans 2:1-16:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The moralist, \u201crespectable persons\u201d, full of self-love and self-flattery 2 Cor 10:12 &#8220;comparing themselves among themselves&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three &#8220;not wise&#8221; things &#8211; alcohol, Thinking too highly of self, and &#8220;comparing themselves among themselves&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Compare yourself to Christ, seek to be conformed to His image. That is a safe exercise, and a safe goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>First<\/em><\/strong>, Those who look down their nose at the \u201copenly bad\u201d of humanity, considering themselves \u201cbetter\u201d\u2014because of race, money, environment, education, or culture; and,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Second<\/em><\/strong>, Those who look down their nose at the bad, thinking themselves \u201cbetter,\u201d because of their religion,\u2014the possession of the Divine oracles: these, of course, were, in Paul\u2019s day, the Jews (Romans 2:17).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Newell, W. R.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inexcusable &#8211; as Rom 1:20<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Man OR Men is found 6X in our section and 3X more to the end of the chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Law 78X in Romans, 21X in Chapter 2, 23X in Chapter 7<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Judge &#8211; 24X in Romans, 10X in chapter 2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Justify in all forms is found 15X<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Newell, on Romans<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;righteousness of God&#8221; 8X, 5X in Romans<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God&#8217;s truth is absolute since He is omniscient!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He knows the sin, and the motive for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His judgment will be absolutely just.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God, in love, wants to drive us through repentance to Himself! Rom 2:4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He that judges the actions of the unsaved also judges the faith of the Christian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He must judge, and it must be \u201caccording to truth,\u201d according to the facts, the realities which are, of course, known to Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He needs no \u201cjury\u201d to decide any case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is Himself Witness, Jury and Judge<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans 2:7<br>To <strong><em>Abel<\/em><\/strong>, \u201cwell-doing\u201d meant approaching God by a sacrifice<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To <strong><em>Noah<\/em><\/strong>, \u201ccontinuance in well-doing\u201d meant building an ark<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To <strong><em>Abraham<\/em><\/strong>, it meant leaving his country, his relatives<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To <strong><em>Job<\/em><\/strong>, it meant his God-fearing, evil-rejecting life; and afterwards, in the midst of his great affliction, bowing before the presence of God in dust and ashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To <strong><em>Matthew <\/em><\/strong>the publican, it meant rising from his business and following the Lord Jesus;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To <strong><em>Cornelius <\/em><\/strong>the centurion, a life of patient prayer and generosity,\u2014and believing the gospel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To <strong><em>Lydia<\/em><\/strong>, it meant humble and faithful attendance at \u201cthe place of prayer\u201d till Paul came and \u201cher heart was opened\u201d to give heed to the gospel of grace spoken by the apostle,\u2014whence followed her \u201cobedience of faith.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cause and effect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, trouble and suffering, affliction and distress<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans 2:10 But God in love, shows in contrast those working good: glory, honor, peace,\u2014to every such soul, Jew or Greek!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans 2:2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is <strong><em>in agreement<\/em><\/strong> with truth against them which commit such things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans 2:5 But <strong><em>in agreement<\/em><\/strong> with thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans 2:6 Who will render to every man what is <strong><em>in agreement <\/em><\/strong>with his deeds:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans 2:7 To them who <strong><em>in agreement<\/em><\/strong> with steadfast endurance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ <strong><em>in agreement<\/em><\/strong> with my gospel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few of the contentious, the factious:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Cain <\/em><\/strong>who was angry, and hateful at God\u2019s accepting Abel\u2019s sacrifice; an<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Esau <\/em><\/strong>who despised his birthright and hated to the end the people of God; a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Pharaoh <\/em><\/strong>who said to Moses, \u201cWho is Jehovah that I should hearken unto His voice?\u201d A<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>OT Saul<\/em><\/strong> who despised the word of Jehovah and sought to destroy His elect king, David; a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Jehoiakim<\/em><\/strong>, apostate king of Judah, who \u201ccut with his penknife\u201d and burned the prophecies of Jeremiah;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>scribes and Pharisees<\/em><\/strong>, who rejected John\u2019s baptism of repentance,\u2014and, consequently, our Lord\u2019s loving offer of eternal life for sinners through faith in Himself alone;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">infidel <strong><em>Sadducees<\/em><\/strong>, who obeyed not the truth, by ridiculing it, as Modernists do today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All about us we perceive them,\u2014\u201cthe factious,\u201d those who oppose to Scripture their notions or arguments, and continue to obey unrighteousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world is filled with them, and they will fill hell shortly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">what God declares will befall these \u201cfactious\u201d unbelievers: Wrath\u2014indignation\u2014tribulation\u2014anguish<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John 3:36<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Newell, W. R.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romans 2:15, 7:23, 25, 8:7, Heb 8:10, 10:16<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.7\">Law of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.7\">God, Lord, Christ, Spirit,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.7\">Moses, fathers, Jews,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:1\">righteousness, faith, liberty, works, mind, sin (and death), commandment contained in ordinances<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:0.7\">Library<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WBT Romans 3:27:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The law or principle or plan which now has divine authority is that of faith,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">inseparably bound up in the terms of the gospel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The righteousness of God is declared in its message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It intimates that those who believe in Jesus will be justified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is universal in its scope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All men everywhere, regardless of nationality, can come into its blessings,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">but only on the principle of what Paul terms here, the law of faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gentiles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the principles of their moral conscience, their inward sense of moral duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">their moral compass pointing out right and wrong<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God revealed in creation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God revealed in the conscience, the law written in the heart<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God revealed in His revelation to Israel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God&#8217;s actions and God&#8217;s motive<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BR &#8211;
