It continues to provide excellent insight into how God works through imperfect human laws and circumstances to further his purposes. Esther\u2019s Intercession &amp; the Dilemma of the Unalterable Law (Esther 8:3,4,5,6)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3.<\/strong> <strong>The New Decree &amp; the Strategy for Deliverance <\/strong><br><strong>(Esther 8:7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4.<\/strong> <strong>The Transformation in Shushan (Susa) (Esther 8: 15,16,17)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Discussion_Questions\"><\/span>Discussion Questions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. <strong>Intercession &#8211;<\/strong>What lessons on Intercession can we learn from Esther\u2019s behaviour at the start of the chapter, as she reveals her relationship with Mordecai and her identity with the Jewish people?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. <strong>Navigating Imperfect Circumstances and Flawed Systems<\/strong> &#8211; How did Mordecai and Esther work within a flawed legal system to bring about justice? What does this teach us about engaging with the world today? Is our role to overturn existing political and legal structures \u2013 or is it to work within them, despite their imperfections, to allow God\u2019s purposes to be furthered?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. <strong>The Gospel Parallel \u2013<\/strong>By nature, we were trapped by an \u201cunalterable law\u201d \u2013 the law of sin and death, and the inflexible justice of God. The message of the gospel tells us of the &#8220;law of sin and death&#8221; but also of the &#8220;law of the Spirit of life&#8221;. It tells us how God can be \u201cjust and the justifier of him who believes in Jesus\u201d. In what ways is God\u2019s ultimate deliverance of us guilty sinners so incomparably better than the compromise that we find in this chapter for the Jews?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. <strong>The joy which comes from deliverance<\/strong> \u2013 What are some of the considerable contrasts between the end of chapter 3 after Haman\u2019s edict and the end of chapter 8 after Mordecai\u2019s edict? (confusion &amp; weeping vs joy &amp; celebration, destruction &amp; death vs defense and life, bewildered or perplexed people vs many people joining the Jews).
